Peer-facilitated workshops created and facilitated by our team for young adults and service providers.

 

INTRODUCTION TO HARM REDUCTION

In this workshop, we will explore the meaning of harm reduction both as a philosophy and as an approach to risk reduction. Participants will learn the basic principles of harm reduction, develop a greater understanding of 'drug, set, and setting', as well as, explore stigma and misconceptions.

DRUGS 101

This workshop will deepen participants understanding of drugs, both legal and illegal. Participants will learn about drug categories, their unique effects, routes of administration, as well as, associated harm reduction strategies.

IDENTIFYING & RESPONDING TO OVERDOSE

In this workshop, we will discuss what happens during an overdose, particularly, what signs/symptoms to be aware of in order to identify different types of overdose. Participants will increase their understanding of what to look for in the event of an overdose, as well as, how to effectively respond. Please note: Naloxone administration can also be covered in this workshop.

SEXUAL HEALTH

This workshop or workshop series will build upon participants knowledge of sexual health practices and harm reduction strategies. Possible topics include contraception, STIs, HIV, Hep C, PEP/PREP, consent and personal boundaries, LGBTQ+ sexual health, as well as, desirability politics.

SEX WORK

This workshop or workshop series will support participants understanding of the diverse experiences of individuals involved in the sex industry, identifying risks involved in various types of sex work, discussing the reasons individuals choose to engage in sex work, as well as, the laws pertaining to individuals (including youth) involved in sex work. Please note: This workshop does not include information on sex trafficking.
